Wildcharge was introduced to the public way back in 2006, when wireless charging seemed like a science fiction. Back then, Wildcharge were suggesting that the system could not only charge small gadgets like cellphones and smartphones but also larger devices like laptops. The first retail version of Wildcharge hit stores in mid 2007. The first wireless charging device only supported the infamous Motorola V3 RAZR. Since then, Wildcharge launched different adapters to fit different mobile phones and PDA’s, including the iPhone.

So, How well does it work?

I’ve tested the wildcharge charging pad using my iPhone. the result is pretty good. First of all, the charging pad that fits my iPhone looks like any other case. It is made of a soft gel and beside 2 sets of wildcharge contact module on it’s backside, you won’t see any difference. IT weighs like other cases as well thus making it easy to carry around in your bag or pocket.

To charge the iPhone, all you need to do is place the device on the charging pad and that’s about it. a blue led lights up on the pad, indicating that the iPhone is being charged. It took 2 hours for my iPhone to be fully charged. It is around the same time that it takes the original iPhone USB charger. A single Wildcharge pad can recharge several devices at once. They don’t have to bedevices from the same kind. For example, you can charge both your iPhone and nintendo DSi console at the same time. It is also compatible with the iPod Touch.

At the current price I think that the wildcharge is a good buy. A bundle of charging pad and an iPhone charging pad will cost around $80. It’s a price worth paying to save the hassle of endless chords hanging around the house. It also solve a problem i had. The chord of my iPhone US charger always used to “disappear” behind my work desk. It drove me crazy. At least twice a day I had to bent over and look for the cable. With the Wildcharge I simply drop the iPhone on the pad and that’s it.
In the future the Wildcharge charging pad will be compatible with Laptops and other game consoles as well so consider this buy a long term one.
